Jon Miller and Joe Morgan will not return to Sunday Night Baseball booth

Norby Williamson, executive vice president of ESPN, announced today that Jon Miller and Joe Morgan will not return next season to broadcast the network's Sunday Night Baseball games, as they have done for 20 years.

Richard Sandomir of the New York Times' Bats Blog speculates that Dan Schulman will replace Miller on play-by-play and that Orel Hershiser will remain in the booth as the color commentator. Bobby Valentine could also join the broadcast team if he does not take a managerial job.

It probably won't break the hearts of too many people to not have to hear Miller and Morgan every Sunday night. While Miller is a broadcasting Hall of Famer, Morgan is often criticized for his head-scratching analysis.

Miller currently broadcasts San Francisco Giants games and will either increase his workload with the defending World Series champions or stay with ESPN part-time as the Sunday Night Baseball radio voice.
