Thursday was a forgettable day for the Big East

The Big East, which sent eight teams to the NCAA Tournament, can't be happy with the results of Thursday's games.

First Notre Dame was eliminated by Old Dominion. Georgetown was basically embarrassed by Ohio, losing 97-83. Marquette couldn't hang on against Washington, falling 80-78. Villanova was the only team to sneak out with a win, doing so in overtime against 15-seed Robert Morris.

A 1-3 day could have easily gone 0-4 for the Big East.

The knock on the conference is that there are so many teams and they all beat each other up, making many wonder if the teams are as good as we think come tournament time. Thursday's performance certainly gives the doubters some extra ammo.

Tomorrow Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville and West Virginia take the court. If today's action is any indication, Friday could be another rough day for the Big East.
