MMA fighter Gina Carano has been tabbed to star in "Knockout," a new action film about a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who gets a second chance to use her skills for good. Steven Soderbergh will direct the movie.
It will be the first big film role for Carano, who also appeared as Crush on the most recent incarnation of "American Gladiators." She had a small part in the Michael Jai White film, "Blood and Bone."
Carano could probably make the leap to the big screen full time. She will be believable in any tough girl role simply because of her MMA background and also has movie star good looks. "Knockout" is set to start filming in January and Soderbergh plans to cast other notable actors around Carano.
