There was a bit of controversy surrounding this fight, with referee calling it in favor of Cyborg with only one second remaining in the first round. Many felt that the referee could have waited for the round to end before deciding if Carano could still compete. Either way, Cyborg is the new Strikeforce women's 145-pound champion.
