Jay Mariotti will write for the Chicago Tribune beginning September 1

SPORTSbyBROOKS is reporting that Jay Mariotti, the former Chicago Sun-Times columnist who claimed newspapers were dying when he left the publication, will begin writing for their rival, the Chicago Tribune, beginning September 1. Mariotti also is a regular on ESPN's "Around the Horn."

The word is that Mariotti is pulling a Brett Favre, joining the Tribune as a way to get revenge on his old employer. He will continue his work on ESPN and will still write for AOL Fanhouse, which he has been doing for about a year, and will write one or two columns per week for the Chicago Tribune.
