Twins trade for Orlando Cabrera, bolster offense and middle infield

The Minnesota Twins completed a trade today for shortstop Orlando Cabrera, sending minor league infielder Tyler Ladendorf to the A's. The Twins will also receive cash considerations from Oakland.

Minnesota enters Friday's action trailing the Tigers by two games for the AL Central lead. Detroit added Jarrod Washburn today in a trade with Seattle.

Cabrera will provide some needed pop to Minnesota's lineup and will improve their defense up the middle. He is currently batting .280 with four home runs and 41 RBI along with 11 stolen bases.

This will be The O.C.'s sixth major league team, after stints with the Expos, Red Sox, Angels, White Sox and A's.
