Longtime Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson dies at age 68

Sad news out of Philadelphia today as the Eagles announced that defensive coordinator Jim Johnson has died at the age of 68 after a long battle with cancer. It was only Saturday when the Eagles officially announced that Sean McDermott would replace Johnson as the Eagles defensive coordinator, allowing Johnson to focus on fighting for his life.

Jim Johnson coached football for over 40 years, including stints in college and the NFL. He was hired as the Eagles' defensive coordinator in 1999. His defenses were known for being blitz-heavy and athletic, and he is known for being the mentor to several other NFL coaches, including new Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo.
