Knicks granted exclusive window to negotiate with Jason Williams

The New York Knicks have been granted an exclusive five day window to negotiate a contract with free agent point guard Jason Williams, according to Yahoo! Sports. "White Chocolate" retired in September of 2008 after signing a one-year deal with the LA Clippers. Williams has just come off the NBA's voluntary retirement list and the Knicks claimed him off waivers.

The Knicks have until August 6th to finalize a contract with Williams or else he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

With rumors flying about Ramon Sessions possibly being offered a contract and even Allen Iverson being discussed by the Knicks' front office, it is interesting to have a third man brought into the mix in Jason Williams. He hasn't played in the league since 2007 but would probably do well in the Knicks' up-tempo offense.

The Knicks have been seeking backcourt depth and this would perhaps signal that Ramon Sessions is leaning towards signing an offer sheet with the Clippers.
