Dodgers acquire closer George Sherrill from Orioles

As rumored earlier today, the Dodgers have acquired Orioles closer George Sherrill in exchange for two minor leaguers, according to The Baltimore Sun and several other sources.

Those players are rumored to be switch-hitting third baseman Josh Bell, 22, and pitcher Steve Johnson, 21. Johnson is a Baltimore native whose father, Dave, played for the Orioles and is currently a broadcaster for MASN, which covers the team.

Sherrill will be used as a setup man for Jonathan Broxton in Los Angeles. Jim Johnson is the likely candidate to take over as closer for the Orioles.
