Mets set to open Citi Field tonight against Padres
The Mets have chosen the cast of "West Side Story" because the play opened in 1957, which was the final year the Dodgers and Giants played in New York. This coincides with the rest of Citi Field, which is a tribute more to the two teams that moved to California than to the Mets themselves.
The game will also be shown live in Rockefeller Center at SNY's studios and on the video board above the "Good Morning America" studio in Times Square. The Empire State Building will also join the fun, as it will be illuminated in Mets blue and orange.
