Pudge Rodriguez, Astros agree to one-year deal

Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman is reporting the Astros and free agent catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez have agreed to a one-year deal and are in the final stages of completing the agreement. Sources are saying the deal is worth $1.5 million plus incentives.

It's a good move at that price for Houston. The team is very weak at catcher and Rodriguez is known for handling pitching staffs well and being an above-average defensive backstop. Although he struggled last year with the Tigers and Yankees, he has hit .600 with two home runs in the World Baseball Classic for Puerto Rico.
