A bit of an anniversary for me

It was ten years ago on this very day that I made my first venture into the world of internet writing. It was with a website called "The Wrestling Cafe," an early semi-blog about professional wrestling. And yes, I know it's choreographed. I knew it then, even at the young age of 14. But I loved the behind-the-scenes aspects of the "sport," the storytelling and characters.

The expression is over-used, but it's a male soap opera. If it's okay to watch a television series and think, "I hope Rachel and Ross get back together," even though it is scripted, why is it any more silly to watch a wrestling show and wonder if John Cena will ever turn heel and become a bad guy?

I digress.

The site lasted for a few years but it wasn't as easy to do as it is now. There weren't popular blogging platforms like Blogger and WordPress. It was all HTML and a whole lot of work, which is why it wasn't very successful and I basically gave up on it. That, and I gave up on wrestling for a while once Vince McMahon bought every competing company.

"The Wrestling Cafe" did help spark my passion for writing and for internet journalism, if that's what you would call this. It led me to write for other sites like and the now defunct So for all of that I am very thankful.

And, of course, I'm thankful for anyone who has read me over the years on the sites I mentioned above, here at, or on Bleacher Report, YardBarker, or any other syndicated service that has featured my content. Thank you!
