Feelin' kinda Sunday: Super Bowl XLIII preview and prediction

The biggest sporting event of the year has arrived. Super Bowl XLIII kicks off tonight from Tampa Bay on NBC. Awful Announcing gets you set up with a full viewing guide of what to expect from The Peacock's six hour pregame show.

My original preseason prediction of a Cowboys-Patriots Super Bowl notwithstanding, here is your official tonyblogs.net prediction:

Pittsburgh Steelers v. Arizona Cardinals, 6:00pm ET, NBC
The Cardinals are hot right now, really hot. But one thing that concerns me is how they seem to slack off a bit in the second half. They found enough in the tank to hold on after the Eagles stormed back at them two weeks ago, but the Steelers defense is a little stronger and more intimidating than Philly's.

Pittsburgh, as they usually do, will slow the game down and make it a defensive battle. They will force Edgerrin James to beat them. Although even if they double Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin will be alone in man coverage. Hell, even double coverage isn't enough to stop Fitz sometimes.

Earlier in the week I was ready to go all in on the Cards magical run, but now I'm not so sure. Arizona's defense can capitalize on mistakes, but Ben Roethlisberger isn't as prone to making them as Donovan McNabb and Jake Delhomme.

I really didn't give you much there, did I? It's because I'm still waffling like Brett Favre on this decision. In the end, though, I think the Steelers "D" will be too much and will make this a typical slug-paced slugfest.
Prognostication: Steelers 26, Cardinals 17
