Wolves fire Wittman, move McHale to bench

Randy Wittman is no longer the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, after being fired today and replaced by VP of Basketball Operations, Kevin McHale. McHale will step down from his previous post to focus solely on coaching. Wittman was 38-105 during his Minnesota tenure, which included one full season and parts of two others.

Now it's McHale's turn to show that Minnesota can be competitive. He assembled this group of players and this is basically McHale's last chance to save his own job. Wolves owner Glen Taylor is pretty much saying, "If these guys you got are so good, then win with them."
