Lane Kiffin headed to Tennessee, sources say

Lane Kiffin is set to become the next head football coach of the Tennessee Volunteers, after weeks of speculation that would be the case, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. A formal announcement is expected early next week.

Kiffin got the raw end of the deal in Oakland, culminating in an Al Davis press conference in which Davis showed an e-mail he sent to Kiffin outlining why he was fired on an overhead projector.

The college scene is probably better suited to the 33-year-old Kiffin, who before his time with the Raiders was the offensive coordinator at USC. Young, collegiate players tend to listen to young coaches more than highly-paid professional athletes, and that should help Kiffin.
