I give you ten bats and you give me a pitcher? Deal!

During my time on our radio show, "CortSide," if a player was awful I would suggest trading them for anything, and then give examples like a pack of gum, a sack of potatoes, etc. As it turns out, I apparently wasn't being that facetious. The Calgary Vipers of the Golden Baseball League traded pitcher John Odom to the Laredo Broncos of the United League on Tuesday... for ten maple baseball bats. Laredo had offered cash instead of the bats, but Vipers President Peter Young said that would have been "an insult." Yes, Peter, cash would have been much more insulting than ten bats. Huh?
